synopsis
AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT: VOX PHAMALIA: Boulder Edition!
A brand new program, and the very first satellite program of the Physically Handicapped Actors & Musical Artists League (PHAMALY), we are pleased to announce auditions for VOX PHAMALIA: Boulder Edition. Vox PHAMALIA is a writing-to-performance workshop for performers with disabilities, in which the actors involved write their own comedic sketches and monologues, all with the unique perspective of living with a disability, with aid and fine-tuning by the workshop director. The sketches are then rehearsed over several weeks, culminating in performances for the public. In an effort to provide more accessible programming for the disabled community living in Boulder and the surrounding region, all rehearsals and performances will be held in Boulder.
Needed are 15 physically, emotionally and/or cognitively challenged individuals
of all ages (18 and up) and cultural backgrounds.
Audition Dates:
Thursday, December 8, 7:30 pm – 9 pm OR Sunday, December 11, 12:00 pm – 2 pm (There will not be a callback date)
Prepare: Please bring a headshot or photo of yourself to the audition. Please also write a 1-2 minute biographical piece about yourself and your disability, and be prepared to verbally deliver your piece at the audition. You may read off of your written piece, or deliver it memorized if you wish.
Location for both dates: Boulder Public Library, 1001 Arapahoe Avenue, Boulder (Boulder Creek Meeting Room)
To sign up for an audition time, please email auditions@phamaly.org with your preferred audition date. You will be sent a confirmation and date/time for your audition.
