Baby with the Bathwater

Play by Christopher Durang

Directed by Warren Sherrill

October 8-25, 2015, Avenue Theater (417 E. 17th St., Denver)

There are bad parents, and then there's John and Helen, the parents at the center of Baby with the Bathwater. John and Helen aren't intentionally abusive of their child, they are just clueless about even the most basic things about parenting. Like that it isn't a good idea to give your baby Nyquil. Or that you shouldn't wake your baby by yelling, "WAKE UP!" A fun and absurdist comedy with a true depth of heart.

Taking Leave
Play by Nagle Jackson
Directed by Bryce Alexander
April 1-17, 2016, Jones Theatre (Denver Performing Arts Complex)

Shakespeare professor Eliot Pryne is packing what he thinks is a suitcase and leaving what he thinks is a hotel. In the early stages of Alzheimer's disease, he is "taking leave" of the real world and imaginging a new one. His three daughters-- a public school counselor, an actress, and a free-roaming ex-drug user-- must decide the next steps for their father. This heartwarming dramatic comedy is about family, living life to its fullest, and the imminence of one's passing, filled with the often farcical behavior that goes along with this disease. A clever, charming, and honest reflection on the true magic of life.

Evita
Lyrics by Tim Rice
Music by Andrew Lloyd Weber
July 14-August 7, 2016, Byron Theatre at the University of Denver's Newman Center

Arentina's controversial First Lady is the subject of this dynamic musical masterpiece. As an illegitimate fifteen year old, Eva escaped her dirt-poor existence for the bright lights of Buenos Aires. Driven by ambition and blessed with charisma, she was starlet at twenty-two, the president's mistress at twenty-four, First Lady at twenty-seven, and dead at thirty-three. Eva Peron-- saint to the working-class, reviled by the aristocracy, and mistrusted by the military-- was destined to leave a fascinating political legacy. With an exuberant score of Latin, pop and jazz influences, Evita creates an arresting theatrical portrait as complex as the woman herself.
